PLA, PETG or ASA: what to print a part for the outdoors from

PLA goes soft in the sun. For the garden and the car, choose PETG or ASA.

PLA is the easiest to print, but it goes soft at about 55 °C. A holder in a car in summer or a part on a south wall bends when it is PLA.

PETG takes more heat and does not mind damp. For garden parts and covers, it is a sensible choice at a similar price.

ASA takes UV light and temperatures over 90 °C. For parts that stay in the sun for years it is the best, but not everyone prints it – filter for it in the catalog.
