FDM or SLA? Which technology to choose

FDM is cheap and strong, SLA fine and precise. What the print is for decides.

FDM prints with a melted filament, layer by layer. It is the most common and the cheapest, it handles large parts and materials such as PETG or ASA, which take load and the outdoors. The layers show on the surface.

SLA cures liquid resin with light. The surface is smooth and the details sharp, so it suits figures, jewellery and dental models. The parts are more brittle and the build volume is smaller.

For a holder, a box or a spare part for the house, FDM is enough. For a small model where the look matters, look for SLA in the catalog.
